Happy New Year 2013

Aw, Happy New Year everybody!

I know it's not "cool" to make resolutions - but I like the start of a year (or month, or week) to start charting progress at the least.  Last year I logged each of my miles and wound up with about 1,925 when I set what I thought was a lofty goal of 1,500!  If I hadn't kept track all year long, I wouldn't know how it turned out.  Even more than that, I wouldn't know that I needed to up the ante for this yaer!  2,013 miles in 2013?  Yah!

I also think that the beginning of January is a fine time to see just how much improvement you can plan for the year.  If you sit around all year saying "Gee, I'd sure like to..." or "Maybe when the weather straightens out, I should..." you'll be to busy when the time comes and miss the opportunity!

Here are my Goals and Resolutions for the coming year.

1.  Join a swim meet or club.  I just started swimming a little over a year ago and it is by far my weakest sport.  I know I need to be around other swimmers to improve...no matter how scary (hello, circle swimming, eeps!) that may be.

2.  Travel to see my in-laws three times in 2013.  Yeah, we are the worlds worst children...our family is about 2.5hrs away and we put it off until, lo and behold, the ENTIRE year of 2012 passed without traveling to see them.  Shameful.  Unacceptable.  Changeable.

3.  Pay more attention to the exterior of our home.  I usually start out the Spring fairly well...I clean up the leaves and trash that blew in off the near by main street over the winter.  I prune the rose bush and clean up the porch...but I fail in keep it up or making any improvements.  This year, I'm going to focus on the front of our home and try to give it more "curb appeal."

4.  Train for and run my first Marathon as a vegetarian.  I normally don't eat much meat because it's just so hard to digest.  But, I decided to go all the way Veg with a no dairy pledge as well.  I will mark one day per month to eat cheese, glorious cheese, and whatever else I've been missing out on. :)

Well, I think that's enough for now.  These four things will certainly bring about other positive changes in my life.  Can't wait to see what happens!

What about you?  What would you like to do in 2013?
