Warm Weather and IF
Great Sunday!
Any January day in Nebraska that is 50 degrees with full sun, is a friend of mine!
I headed out for an easy five right after church. I didn't WANT to. I tried to reason out of it due to my cough. I figured I would just do some running on my "No readout, barely electric" basement treadmill. That didn't sound appealing in the LEAST - so I changed my clothes, again, and decided to brave a tiny bit of wind.
So very glad that I did. My run proved that I definitely need to be running some of my speed training at a faster pace. My average pace was faster than I've been running my tempo miles at. :D Slower on the treadmill, I guess. It's so durn hot in the gym!!
I decided to try a gentle version of Intermittent Fasting. I will be using the 8 hour window approach and eating during only 8 hours of each day. For me, I have chosen to eat from 9am to 5pm. This will allow me to have a nice recovery meal after my morning workout, eat normally through the day, and have dinner with my family at our usual time about 5:30. As you can see, I am going to remain flexible, but ultimately, will attempt to fast for 16 hours of each day.
I plan to eat like I normally do - lots of plants and protein, limited sweets and snacks. I'm hoping that the fast will teach me a little about listening to my hunger cues and not eating when I'm really not hungry. I plan to fast like this on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this coming week. If that works out - I may take on a 5 day week. I need to loose body fat, people...and calorie counting isn't cutting it.
Will keep ya posted. I see lots of tea being consumed in the evenings and many trips to the bathroom in the night!

I found eating only 3 meals per day and only a healthy snack right after I got home from work (or on my drive home for the low-blood sugar grumpies) helped me lose some poundage even while very little exercising (ok... None!) and sitting at a desk most of the day. I like this idea and will be implementing it again starting tomorrow. (oh dear....)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your IF'ing! I hope it goes well for you :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting approach. I look forward to hearing how it works for you!
ReplyDeleteGotta love 50 in January! I think we get that tomorrow.
